Our friends at the ASBC celebrated their five-year anniversary yesterday with an all-day conference and awards dinner at the Sheraton Premiere in Tysons. As you have read here before, ASBC holds networking events, seminars and provides advice for small and emerging government contractors.

ASBC founders Guy and Maggie Timberlake now work with their 425 members. Yesterday also doubled as Guy’s 44th birthday (he is exactly 400 years younger than William Shakespeare) and he’ll be celebrating at a resort in the Shenandoahs.

GSA CIO Casey Coleman says the Federal CIO council wants to start implementing a public cloud computing solution by the end of the fiscal year. As for cloud computing as a whole she says if the government shows some progress then more money could be throw their way. “We need to show how beneficial shared services are,” Casey says.

INPUT’s Kevin Plexico says the government’s spending $1.5 billion a day in stimulus money, and that’s actually below expectations. “To reach budget forecasts, the government is actually going to have to increase that number to $2 billion a day,” Kevin says

TeqCorner Czar Myra Fitzwater and Computrad’s Scott Moors (those were his fingers behind Guy’s head). Myra tells us TeqCorner has eight new clients and along with the NVTC is hosting the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization on May 18. More importantly, Myra just got a bunch of chickens at her farm in Harpers Ferry, so she’s promised us a basket of eggs the next time we see her.

It’s our lunch group: TPO Chairman Karen Usher, Core Business Training’s Linda Hahn, Wells Fargo’s Robert Fleishmann and KO Solutions President Gail Young. Karen tells us she’s stepped away from the human resources management company she founded and now lives in England in a 330-person farming town 3 ½ west of London in a house with no central heating. “Everything we eat is grown within five miles of where we live,” she says.

We’d still recognize ‘em anywhere: AOL co-founders Jim Kimsey and Steve Case, flanked by Air Plus International's Rana Walker and Steve's wife Jean (who’s CEO of the Case Foundation) earlier this week at Jim’s house. The event, which also drew Jordan’s Queen Noor, raised money for Nothing But Nets, which got a recent burst of publicity when Ashton Kutcher challenged CNN to see who could be the first Twitter user to reach one million followers, with a pledge that the winner would donate 10,000 anti-malaria bed nets. (Ashton won.)
