We went to the National Building Museum Friday for Prevent Cancer Foundation’s spring gala Modern + Majestic = Switzerland.

People in traditional Swiss dress welcomed guests with Alps horns. We snapped Federal Homes managing partner Matt Bronczek, Ashley Taylor, FedEx’s David Short, Marie Therese Royce and her husband Rep, Ed Royce.

Sen. Pat Leahy is surrounded by Sidley Austin partner William Sudow and by Kathleen Murphey, and uber lobbyist Tony Podesta. (Does he think he’s in Hollywood with creative black tie?)

Katherine Kennedy (right) had her parents, Barb and Kevin, fly from California for the gala. They’re with Microsoft’s Mark Drapeau, The Koenig Group’s Corene McKinney, and SCIC’s Chris Grisafe.

It was decorated again this year by My Fair Wedding’s David Tutera. We saw Jeanne Ruesch with James Aldige, whose wife Bo founded Prevent Cancer.

Eisai Inc’s Brian Eckley, Shirley Hunt, and David Cox, who tells us he just returned from the Italian section of Switzerland.

Holy Grail, DC. It's Spamalot!

Monty Python’s Spamalot gallops into DC this week for one week only (March 13-18). It’s based on the hit movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail and winner of three 2005 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Director (Mike Nichols). The original cast recording won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. Wacky characters: a chorus line of dancing divas, killer rabbits, and a legless knight played by Jacob Smith (with Brittany Woodrow as The Lady of the Lake). This is Jacob’s second touring year with the show—he has 380 performances in 200 cities under his belt. He says it’s easy to tell when there are obsessed Python maniacs in the audience, but it will appeal to all musical fans, ages 8 to 80. Journopalooza!

We went to The Journopalooza Battle of the DC Journalist Bands at The Hamilton on Friday. We snapped the evening’s host, Grammy-nominated progressive hip-hop artist Christylez Bacon (right) with Lethal Bark bass player Pat Kehs, who’s Meet The Press' lighting director.

The competition featured seven bands on the big stage, benefiting good causes like Writopia Lab, a non-profit that holds creative writing workshops for kids, and Reach Inc, which helps children learn to read by training kids to teach kids. We snapped Suspicious Package band members Medill’s Josh Meyer, USTR’s Christina Sevilla, HUD’s Bryan Greene, and Plumb Concepts’ Tim Burger.

The Stepping Stones band members: Washington Post’s Dan DeVise and John Kelly flank ADNET Systems’ Chuck Dolan and UMBC’s Tim Brennan. They won the battle of the bands, with Suspicious Package a close second.

Opening Day at DCU!

We joined 16,314 fans to support DC United in its home opener at RFK Stadium Saturday against Sporting Kansas City. We snapped the starting lineup for the hometown team just before kickoff.

Dan Jensen with Continuent’s Jeff Mace. DCU played hard but lost 1-0, after allowing a heartbreaking goal in the match's final minute

The fans rooting in full force at RFK Stadium.
