Hooray for Housing

Halstead Property dominated REBNY’s 21st Residential Deal of the Year Awards last night at the 230 Fifth Penthouse Lounge, where over 500 gathered to celebrate the industry crème de la crème.

The Henry Forster Award, presented to a salesperson with integrity, professionalism, leadership, vision, community service, and passion went to Corcoran Group’s Tresa Hall, who says she’s never been more surprised or more honored (especially since she never intended to be in real estate, noting stints as a bartender, flight attendant, and singer). Here, she’s pictured with ’08 winner Jon Wollberg of Halstead and REBNY prez Steven Spinola.

A special award for outstanding service went to founders of the New York Residential Specialist designation, which is preceded by a course of study including ethics, law, marketing, and finance.

Netter Real Estate’s Cornelia Netter (center)
Netter Real Estate’s Cornelia Netter (center) won a posh weekend stay at the new Surrey Hotel, which includes dinner at Café Boulud and breakfast in bed. Proceeds from last night went to REBNY’s Residential Member in Need Fund, which has given out over $1.8M to charity in two decades. Other enticing raffle gifts: iPhones, Amazon Kindles, a $600 cashmere wrap, and Knicks box seat tix.

Barbara Fox (second from right) and the Foxettes: Marzia Verdi Kennedy, Marcia Roma, Ellen Monness, and Jolanta Zonca. Barbara tells us that Fox Residential Group has just listed a $33M, 4.7k-SF pre-War co-op at 834 Fifth Ave. What do you get for that chunk of change? An 11-room apartment with a terrace that allows unobstructed views of the Central Park Zoo polar bears.

Caran Properties’ Sherry Frankel (second from left, with Caran’s Mark Elias, Molly Shifrin, and Calin Peters) would like to thank everyone who donated to Have A Chance Walk last Sunday. Although it poured, she says that a lot of people still attended the rally and the event was a huge success. Over $476k was raised to support the fight against brain tumors, and they’re still counting, she adds. If you still want to donate, you can do so through Team Caran.

Manhattan Mortgage Co.’s Melissa Cohn, with Charles Rutenberg Realty’s Paul Purcell, Stribling’s Cecilia Serrano, and Prudential Douglas Elliman’s Steven James at REBNY Awards

Although we’ve been hearing an uptick of positivity on the commercial side, the residential folks were oozing with it. Manhattan Mortgage Co.’s Melissa Cohn, with Charles Rutenberg Realty’s Paul Purcell, Stribling’s Cecilia Serrano, and Prudential Douglas Elliman’s Steven James, tells us that business is now back on track—rates are low, so buy, buy, buy. It’s been a great market to connect more with fellow brokers, buyers, and sellers, Steven adds.
